What Are Nostalgic Sessions?
We work closely together to uncover the unique threads that weave your family's story. We delve into the activities and moments that define your bond, aiming to capture the essence of what makes your family truly special. By understanding your shared experiences, we create timeless photographs that not only reflect the present but also become cherished relics of nostalgia for the future. It's a personalized experience, tailored to encapsulate the heart and soul of your family's journey through time.
Couples/Weddings
The beginning to a happily ever after. I cannot wait to be a part of your love story. Let me be your third wheel. Come prepared to run, play, twirl, make-out, touch, squeeze, and cuddle. I want to capture your love and connection. Need help with your wedding timeline? Family shot list? I’m your girl. This is the one and only time you’re planning a wedding and I’ve been to a LOT of weddings so feel free to come to me for any advise or guidance.
Families
Let’s capture your family at it’s core. I’ll get the classic - “Look at me and smile,” picture (because those ones are important too) but ultimately I want to take photos that will remind me of who you and your family are and the connections you have. Come relax, let go a bit of control with your kids. Let them run, be silly and themselves. Be prepared to play, laugh, and snuggle. If there’s tears, don’t fret - Comfort them, kiss their boo boos and hug them close. Those moments are memorable and special too.
Maternity & Newborn
The most exciting time in your lives. Moms - this is such an incredible, unique experience - carrying your precious bundle. Your bodies change, and when that little one arrives your life changes. Being a mom myself, I’m sensitive knowing what an adjustment this is. If your house is a little bit messy from this change - please don’t fret (I can move things out of the shot). If little one is needing a break to feed - no worries (please take a breather to snuggle and feed your new little - I can even capture this moment for you if you’d like).
It’s Me!
I’m Charlotte (aka Lota)
Located in the beautiful West Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada
Let me start off by answering some questions about myself that you never asked or maybe even thought to ask!
Where the heck did Lota come from? My husband Steve calls me Lota, and I found it to be perfect for my business name!
How did you start your business? I actually went to school for dental assisting and I’m a self taught photographer. I had my first little (Blairesy - see below) and knew I didn’t want to go back to work. During my maternity leave, I started a Social media marketing business where I purchased my first camera (Canon Rebel t5i) so that I could take better photos for the businesses that I was running social media for. I ended up loving the photo taking part so much more than the social media part so quickly switched over to only photography.
What gear do you use now? I have a Canon 5d mark IV (primary body), Canon 5d mark iii, 35mm Sigma Art, 85 mm Sigma art, Canon 24-70, and Canon 70-200.
Tell me some random things about yourself! I love bubble baths, chocolate and wine (or all of the above at the same time), I listen to music pretty much all day long. You’ll find me at home with Brookie during the day (while Blairesy is at school), chasing sunsets in the evening with my clients, and editing photos into the night. Seeing my friends usually involves an epic game of Settlers of Catan, I watch the Office on repeat when I’m editing or spinning on my bike. My family is my reason for everything - find out more about them below!

My Family
Why I started all of this
I always wanted to work, but when Blaire was born I had a hard time thinking that I would leave her somewhere while I went to work. I wanted to stay home with my girls. With the support of Steve, and the amazing community I live in - I’ve been able to be a Stay at home mom, while running my photography business.
